Brief

A magnificent triangular atrium in Melbourne’s CBD, 700 Bourke Street was a pivotal new workplace for the National Australia Bank (NAB).

The customised signage created cohesively reflects the distinctive architectural signatures of the building. The scope of works included a sky sign, 3D street and floor numbers standing 3 metres high in a lattice design, column wraps with in-built monitors, wayfinding and statutory signage, vinyl and digital print graphics and wall and floor graphics.

Process

8,000 signs made up of 50,000 individual components were manufactured and installed.

For the 15-storey building, 3k of steel tubing, 2,200sqm of vinyl graphics and approximately 400sqm of aluminium panels were used across the precinct to deliver a complete sensory experience. Wayfinding column signage was individually designed with customised diameters. Each column wrap consisted of 220 components, individually laser cut, folded and painted using a number of power coating techniques and 2-pack painting. The extraordinary final result reflects the complexity of the design, manufacturing and installation process.
